I will be bringing home my ShihTzu puppy Oct. 6. I plan to sign up for the home class and read I should wait 4 days before doing that. My question is, exactly what should I do the day I bring her home? Keep on leash? Start potty training immediately? She has been on wee-wee pads since born. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Congratulations and thank you for your question! How old will your new friend be when you bring her home? It is important for me to know to best answer your question. Also, has she been outside to play at the breeder? Read our easy leash training method under ‘training tips’ before you bring her home. You will find our podcasts on crate training, housetraining, and effective discipline very helpful. As soon as I hear back from you I will give you more specific advice. Thank you, Margaret Davis

Sorry, my PC died and I couldn't answer so quickly! Elsie wil be 49 days old (12 weeks). Her breeder has her and siblings in exercise pen,and she goes outside also to a fenced yard. Thank you so much for your help. I will re-read the training you suggest and do you think I should have the home trainer come sometime next week? Brenda
