We have a 10 week old puppy (japanese spitz) that has done very well with crate/housetraining since we got her 2 weeks ago. No more than a couple of accidents in the house towards the beginning, and once in her crate, the first night. However, in the past 2 days, she has peed in her crate 4 times. We have just enough room for her to lay down, turn around, etc., and we leave a toy or 2 for her to chew on. So when she pees, she has no choice but to lay in it. But apparently this doesn't deter her at all. She also has started peeing on the carpet again, about 4 to 5 times in those same 2 days.
What can we do to solve this? We take her out 5 times daily, and she knows the schedule. We also only give her water twice daily to try and control her timing. We read that you should give 2-2.5 hours for them to digest before taking them out, but because she has peed within 30 minutes to an hour after getting water, we have changed the schedule this morning to give her a quicker break. Could this fix the problem?
Surely she can't enjoy laying in her own urine. Should we just be patient and wait it out?
